Six Methods that Will Help You Get Rid of Acne Naturally

Do you want to know how to get rid of acne naturally?

In order to cure the acne, some people can go to extreme measures and use unsafe methods and medications. The realization of the dangers associated with these measures has seen an increasing number of people turn to more natural and healthy ways to handle acne. When it comes to curing acne, the most inexpensive remedies are usually the safest and most effective remedies. Here are six proven home remedies that will enable you to get rid of acne naturally with a minimum of effort and no drug side effects.

The first natural remedy for acne will probably surprise you. Here are six tips about how to get rid of acne naturally:

Yeast. Experts in natural health tell us that yeast overgrowth and infection is a bad thing, and they are absolutely right. The yeast used in baking, which is still available, tucked away in obscure shelves in the grocer’s dairy section, is an excellent source of chromium. The beta-D-glucans in yeast stimulate the immune system’s macrophages. Their name literally meaning “big eater”, macrophages surround and digest the bacteria that cause acne. Even better, yeast makes the skin more flexible, helping pores stay open. Yeast is not exactly tasty, but you can benefit by eating one small squarea day with a meal. Don’t eat yeast on an empty stomach, to avoid indigestion.

Calendula soaps and washes take away the pain caused by especially inflamed pimples. The petals of the marigold plant, calendula also kills staph bacteria. If you have a pimple with a yellow head pop up overnight, chances are your skin is infected with staph bacteria, rather than the Propionibacterium acnes bacteria that ordinarily cause acne. Benzoyl peroxide does not treat this kind of pimple, so calendula is a better choice.

Tea tree oil washes and creams kill the Propionibacterium acnes bacteria just as effectively as benzoyl peroxide, with an added benefit. Benzoyl peroxide can dry out the skin. This causes tiny flakes of skin to adhere to the openings of pores, ironically, causing more acne. Tea tree oil takes a day or two longer to get rid of redness but it will not cause the formation of new whiteheads and blackheads.

Honey has been used to treat acne and other skin infections for thousands of years. The antibacterial and antiseptic qualities of honey are so well established that honey is even used as an antiseptic for cosmetic surgery in the United States, although not as often as it is used in the Middle East or Brazil. The way honey helps clear up skin blemishes is by modifying the activity of the immune system. Chemicals in honey attract neutrophils, which attack acne bacteria. These chemicals also modify the process of inflammation so there is less redness, swelling, and pain in the skin within minutes of application. With clean fingers, apply a thin coating of honey to acne-affected skin, and allow to dry for 30 minutes. Wash with warm water, and pat dry. Repeat up to twice a day as skin begins to clear, usually within a week.

Green tea may remedy acne triggered by changes in testosterone levels, whether in adolescence, menopause, or testosterone treatment. Scientists publishing their research in the Hong Kong Medical Journal report that green tea catechins, the naturally occurring antioxidants found in green tea, make skin cells less sensitive to testosterone, and keep the skin from “growing over” the openings of pores. Green tea catechins may be obtained by drinking 2 to 4 cups of (preferably) decaffeinated green tea every day, or by taking green tea supplements.

Aloe Vera is probably one of the most versatile plant. For acne, its antiseptic and astringent properties mean that when applied on the affected areas, it will reduce the acne-causing bacteria and draw out impurities.

These six natural remedies are a great way to get rid of acne naturally. Just be sure to continue to drink water, wash you skin with warm water and soap every day, and avoid drying out or irritating your increasingly beautiful skin.
